The Herndon Crossfire and Herndon Fire teams opened their spring season at the McLean Premier Soccer Tournament on March 22-23, 2014. With strong performances throughout the tournament, both teams played the Championship game in their respective divisions.

Herndon Crossfire won the Championship game against McLean Freedom Gold finishing 4 - 3 in a close-scoring game. Charged up from their prior weekend finishing as Finalist at the Dulles Indoor Soccer winter season tournament, the Crossfire team launched into battle on day one of the tournament only to land a 1 - 1 tie game against the Sterling FC White. Crossfire returned to the pitch on Sunday winning three consecutive games to capture the top prize. In their first game on Sunday, Crossfire won decisively in a 2 - 0 victory against Vienna Youth Soccer (VYS) Pride Silver. In their second game on Sunday, the teams were 0 - 0 well into the 2nd half when Crossfire landed a shot in the back of the net. With this momentum, Crossfire scored again and ended with a 2 - 0 win. In their third game on Sunday and in this Championship round of the tournament, McLean Freedom Gold jumped to an early lead then countered by Crossfire. The scoring by each continued; and with the final blow of the whistle, Crossfire won the Champion title. Way to go… Crossfire girls!

Herndon Fire wins Regional Division Finalist in their last game of the tournament against the Chantilly Soccer Club (CSC) Surge. Fire began the tournament with a decisive win over the Chantilly Youth Association (CYA) SR United Team scoring five goals, holding a strong defense, and landing a 5 - 1 finish. Their next game resulted a 1 - 1 tie against the Lee Mount Vernon Sports Club (LMVSC) Patriots White. To keep playoff hopes alive, the Fire needed to secure a win against their next opponent, Sterling FC Orange. They pulled off a winning game beating Sterling 1 - 0. And then, the Championship game against the CSC Surge proved to be a challenge as the Fire team was unable to convert shots. The final score was 5 - 1 and the Fire team was awarded the Finalist title. Congratulations… Fire girls!
