TF Super Y Teams Add Sizzle to a Hot Summer
August 18, 2019

A player from Bethesda Soccer Club's U-15 Super Y team (in blue jersey) is shown in hot pursuit of speedy players from TF's U-15 Super Y team (in grey and black). Although the U-15s finished in second place with five wins and two losses, they just missed qualifiying for the Super Y National Finals.

Total Futbol teams from Virginia that competed in the Summer Super Y League in 2019 achieved resounding success. 66 players formed into three TF teams (Under 14s, Under 15s, and Under 16/17s) and all three finished in first or second place in their divisions. The U-14 and U-16/U-17 teams qualified for National Finals, which will be held December 13-17 in Tampa, Florida, and will feature 120 teams from across the nation vying for 10 National Championships.

The summer teams were comprised of players from within the Total Futbol program as well as many players in the Northern Virginia and Maryland area. "Players developed new skills by stepping out of the comfort zones of their regular Club teams, battled through the adversity of playing against new opponents while dealing with extreme temperatures throughout the summer season," said Jimmy Brewer, Total Futbol's Director of Programs.

The Total Futbol staff that coached Virginia Super Y Teams during the summer of 2019 includes Nadir Moumen, Matt Lee, Erika Yohn, Tina Valente and Brewer. Congratulations to the teams advancing to the 2019 Super Y League National Finals and TF looks forward to another positive experience in 2020!
