A Torrent of Tournament Titles

Throughout the pre- and post-season, teams coached by Total Futbol compete in a broad range of tournaments and showcases. These events, which can be grueling (often there are four intense games in a two-day period), are critical for building camaraderie on a team and developing grit. No matter how "prestigious" the tournamnet may be in national rankings, make no mistake: It is tough to win a trophy or advance to the Final game. Congrats to all those teams who competed, whether they placed or not!

The GU15 MSI Academy White Warriors team, shown with TF's Marcos Chantel, were Champions of the EDP Futsal Cup - Calvert on February 9, 2020. See the results HERE.

Herndon's Argentinos Jrs Black, co-coached by TF's Matt Lee, were Champions at the presitigious Disney Boys Soccer Showcase on December 30, 2019. They finished the tournament with a goal differential of 11-2. Check out the results HERE. After finishing as Finalists in the Virginia State Cup and Champions at the Bethesda Premier Cup (both events in November 2019), the team is currently ranked #1 in Virginia by GotSoccer.

Herndon Thunder Black, shown with co-coaches Nadir Moumen and Matt Lee, scored 21 goals and let in two at the CCL Showcase in December 2019. Needless to say, they were Champs of their GU18 division!

It's all about teamwork. Herndon Crush, a GU16 team coached by TF's Tina Valente, went 3-0 at the CCL Showcase the weekend of December 7-8, 2019.

The BU18 Herndon Cyclones, coached by Matt Lee, were Champions at the Columbia Fall Classic after sweeping all four games. But they barely made it to the Final match, scoring the needed goal with just 30 seconds left in the game! Check out their results HERE.

Herndon's GU14 Lightning Black team, co-coached by Nadir Moumen and Jimmy Brewer, were Champions of the Girls U14 White division at the Discovery Cup on October 13, 2019 -- but not without some drama. The group went 3-0-0 in group play, dominating opponents and scoring a total of 12 goals while conceding just two. During the final game, the team lost a player due to a broken leg but still went on to win the Championship in a spine-tingling PK shootout. See their results HERE

Herndon Curve Black were Finalists in the Girls U15 Silver division at the NVSC Battlefield Tournament on October 13, 2019. After a scoreless, tense, double overtime championship game, they lost in a PK heartbreaker. You can see their results HERE

Herndon Force 05, coached by TF's Nadir Moumen and Ricky Ramirez, won the Girls U16 Premier bracket (they played up one year) at the Dulles National Soccer Tourney on September 1, 2019. The GU15 squad were the emphatic Champions of the older age group: they won all four games, scoring 18 goals and conceding three. Just two weeks earlier, on August 18, the team won the Girls U15 Premier bracket at the Loudon Premier Cup.

Herndon Lightning Black, coached by TF's Nadir Moumen, won the Girls U15 Premier bracket at the Dulles National Soccer Tourney on September 1, 2019.

Herndon Curve Red, coached by TF's Dan Merold, won the Girls U15 Champion bracket at the Dulles National Soccer Tourney on September 1, 2019. The team eked past (1-1-1) some tough competitors in group play and went on to win the Final 2-1.

Herndon Hurricanes Black won the Womens U19 Premier bracket (yes, the GU17 team was playing up two years) at the Dulles National Soccer Tourney on September 1, 2019. They scored 18 goals and allowed three in four games. Wow.
