Tournaments Yield a Trove of Trophies

Teams coached by Total Futbol competed in numerous tournaments throughout the spring season, with 13 of them claiming Championships and another six teams finishing as Finalists against tough competition. Below are the results achieved by teams that finished in first or second place at regional tournaments, but Total Futbol celebrates all teams (and their parents!) who put out the effort to attend and compete, whether or not they place. Tournaments demand skills and teamwork, and they promote camaraderie and fitness for players.

KEY: HYS=Herndon Youth Soccer; MSI=Montgomery Soccer Inc. Stats: Win-Loss-Draw; GF=Goals For; GA=Goals Against.
Older age groups play only three games per tournament while younger teams (U9-U14) that advance will play four.

Herndon Sting 03, coached by Total Futbol's Ricky Ramirez, went undefeated in the Girls U16 competition of the CCL Championship College Showcase Feb. 9-10.

Herndon Lightning Black 06 brave the cold and drizzle during the APC Girls Showcase in February to get some guidance from Head Coach Nadir Moumen. The girls were Finalists in the GU13 Premier bracket after three wins and one loss. Along the way, they scored 12 goals and conceded six.

Herndon Crush 04 were Champions of the GU15 2 bracket at the Loudon Soccer College Showcase in early March. Guided by Head Coach Tina Valente (shown above dispensing soccer wisdom to the girls between games), the squad went undefeated (2 wins, 1 draw), scored 13 goals, and kept a squeaky clean sheet of zero goals against. The girls were also Finalists in the GU15 Premier Gold bracket at the Virginian Elite tournament over Memorial Day weekend.

Herndon Lightning White 06 won the Girls U13 Elite bracket of the McLean Premier Cup on March 10. Coached by Total Futbol's Jimmy Brewer, the team overwhelmed their competition and won all four games, notching 16 (!) goals and letting just one hit the back of their own net. The girls also were Finalists at the Virginian Elite tournament over Memorial Day weekend.

Head Coach Fabio Vicente joins a very merry band of MSI Academy Green 07 players who just won the Boys U12 Bronze division of the McLean Premier Tournament on March 17.  Posting a 4-0-0 record, the boys scored 19 goals and allowed five. The same squad finished as Finalists in the Arlington Invitational two weeks earlier. In that competition, they lost in the Final but managed to score 22 goals across four games, while allowing just four.

MSI Academy White 07 were Finalists in the GU12 Platinum bracket of the Columbia Invitational over Memorial Day weekend. The team, coached by Total Futbol's Fabio Vicente, also finished as Finalists in the GU12 Bronze bracket of the McLean Tournament on March 24, posting a 3-1-0 record and scoring 12 goals while allowing five in four games.
Herndon Hurricanes Black 03 enjoy some well-earned frozen yogurt after one of their many victories this Spring. Coached by Total Futbol's Nadir Moumen, the team rocked the EDP Spring Showcase April 13-14, blasting through the Girls U16 2003G Crimson division and posting a perfect 3-0-0 record with nine goals scored and ZERO allowed. In league play, they were Champions of the U16 CCL Championship, winning 15 games and losing just one.

MSI Academy Warriors 05, shown above with Head Coach Nadir Moumen, were Champions of the Girls U14 Crimson division at the EDP Spring Cup May 25-27. The closed out the tournament with a 3-0-1 record, scoring 11 goals and letting in one.
Herndon Hurricanes White 03 leap with joy over the Championship trophy they won in the Girls U16 Premier Gold bracket of the Virginian Elite tournament on Memorial Day. Coached by Total Futbol's Tina Valente, the team recorded a perfect 4-0-0 record with 12 goals scored and three conceded.

MSI Academy White 06 and their coaches chomp on their Championship medals in unison after winning the Girls U13 Championship division of the Columbia Invitational tournament on May 27. Earlier this year they also won the Girls U13 Premier bracket at the McLean Premier Cup.

MSI Academy Silver 05, along with Head Coach Marcos Chantel, check out their Championship medals to make sure they are solid gold. They won the hardware by winning three games and drawing one in the Girls U14 Yellow bracket of the Mid-Atlantic Cup on June 9. They scored a whopping 17 goals and let in just four!
